Activities I Recommend To Austin Visitors

Austin is a very active city, always be sure to bring your sneakers and a swimsuit! Here is a list of some fun, local Austin activities to do while you’re visiting.

Activities

Barton Springs Pool

  • A spring fed swimming hole located in Zilker Park, this iconic Austin destination if loved my locals and visitor year round.

  • Area: Zilker Park

Deep Eddy Pool

  • A historic, man-made swimming pool and oldest swimming pool in Texas, this is a great local spot to layout and relax. Enjoy a bite from Pool Burger afterwards!

  • Area: Westfield

South Congress

  • Take a stroll down South Congress. Grab coffee from Jo’s, a bite to eat or a cocktail from the numerous restaurants you’ll have to choose from. See my post on Austin restaurants recs here and look for the ones on South Congress. There’s also plenty of shopping to do. Try on some cowboy boots at Tecovas or Allen’s and get fitted with a custom cowboy hat from Maufrais.

Q2 Stadium

  • Home to the Austin FC, catch a game up in North Austin at Q2 Stadium. Visit The Domain while you’re up there for luxury shopping, entertainment and dining pre or post gameday.

Lake Austin

Butler Pitch and Putt

  • Pitch-and-putt course with nine par-3 holes and putting greens, plus bar food & a beer garden.

Bouldin Acres

  • Neighborhood eatery dishing up burgers, sandwiches and tacos, plus unique cocktails and outdoor seating. This place also has pickleball courts for anyone looking to play a game.

Paddle Boarding on Town Lake

  • A very popular activity, rent a paddle board and explore Town Lake.

Blanton Museum

  • Located at The University of Texas, the Blanton is one of the largest university art museums in the U.S.

The Contemporary Austin - Laguna Gloria

  • Presenting temporary exhibitions and permanent outdoor artworks on a 14-acre site. It’s the former home of Clara Driscoll and site of a 1916 Italianate-style villa on the shores of Lake Austin. It was the original home of the Austin Museum of Art and still houses some of its collections.

Texas Longhorn Football Game

  • Catch a Texas Football game at The Darrell K Royal Stadium.

Moody Amphitheater

  • An outdoor venue with year-round concerts, cultural events and community festivals.
